Music Despite this section being light currently, music has always been a big part of my life and soul. Piano mainly, but I also sing and love listening to all kinds of music. The "teaching tree" you see to the right was given to me by my mentor and piano instructor, Margret V. McCann. She and her late sister, Vinne Anliot, who also taught, put together this tree that traces their tutelage lines all the way back to Beethoven. I still look at this and can barely believe I got to benefit from this tremendous lineage of learning. Marge McCann really helped form a core in me that made me never doubt I could do anything. She is just one of those special kinds of teachers if we're lucky enough we run into. By age 14, she had me giving my first full recital. I won a partial scholarship to major in piano, but traded it in after one semester for a minor. I realized I am drawn to too many arts to focus on just one.

Update 4/20/06: Jordan just sent me this interesting link - for those who like it slow, try Beethoven's 9th Symphony stretched out to play 24 hours, without pitch distortion!
